Hi Thakur! Could you please give us some information about your village Katunge.

There are 99 house holds in my village. The total population is 497. We have 235 men and 260 women living here. The school also supports the kids from 8-9 village around the school house.

How many pupils attended the Katunge High School before the earth quake?

In the school there are 503 total students, the boys number is 249 and girl number is 254. We have teachers in school for up to 10 grade and one helper for school.

What happened with the building during the earthquake?

Before the earthquake, we had 10 rooms for the classes, one teacher room and one for books and a computer. Right now there are only 6 rooms left, where we can run school under difficult conditions. We would like to build 6 temporary rooms as soon as possible to keep up with the lessons.

What are your plans for the future?

As soon as we can pay for the materials, we will build a long term building again.

What were the consequences of the earthquake in your village?

Well, in our village we have 99 percent house damage. Many of the young people work in another country like Dubai, Malaysia, Qatar. Educated or rich families move to the city. Mainly poor and old people remain. Teachers and other workers live in village, too.

Thanks for the interview and namaste!
